Undefeated HyeFighter Vanes Martirosyan (29-0 18 KO’s) is focused on winning a world championship in 2011. He took the first step towards that goal by scoring a second round knockout on Saturday night over Bladimir Hernandez (18-5, 16 KO’s). Despite his opponent coming in over 6 pounds over the originally contracted weight, Martirosyan had no trouble dispatching his opponent. Less than a week after the knockout victory, our Armenian fighter is back at the GFC Gym this week as he prepares for the Mexican Saul Roman (34-8, 29KOs) whom he faces on April 23d for the WBC Silver junior middleweight title. The bout will head line a Top Rank Live card that will be televised by Fox Sports. It takes place at the WinStar Casino in Thackerville, OK.
“2011 is my year. I am just taking a couple days off after winning on Saturday and I will be right back in the gym preparing for Roman,” said Martirosyan.
Martirosyan is looking to use the sliver belt to help springboard him to his ultimate goal of winning a world title. After the Roman fight, Martirosyan hopes to land a world title shot this summer, “After the Roman fight, I hope to fight one of the top guys in my division. I just want to fight the best guys out there. It was great working with Showtime and I can’t wait to be on their network again.”
