HyeFighter Mousasi Fighting Kyle On Strikeforce Event

HyeFighter Gegard Mousasi will be taking on veteran Mike Kyle at the  “Tate vs. Rousey” Showtime-televised event on March 3, 2012, from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Mousasi is coming off a win against Ovince St Preux on 12/17/11, and Kyle is coming off a win against Marcos Rogerio de Lima on 09/10/11.  To say these fighters are experienced, will be the understatement of the year.  Between them, they have combined for 65 total fights, with Mousasi having 37 and Kyle 28 professional MMA fights.  Both fighters posses the experience, and power to make this a very intense battle.  However, Mousasi will win this match with his devastating stand up and speed.

This fight will have heavy implications on the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Title.  The winner will most likely be up for the next title shot, and we know how badly Gegard wants his belt back.

Interestingly enough, this fight between Mousasi and Kyle will take place on the same card as Gegard’s fellow training partner, Ronda Rousey, will take on Tate for the Women’s 135lb. Championship.

HyeFighters Parparyan & Grigorian Both Win In Amsterdam

It was a great night in the Netherlands for HyeFighters Sahak “Hak” Parparyan and Harut “The Rocket” Grigorian at the It’s Showtime event.

Harut Grigoian went into attack mode from the opening round completely confusing and frustrating Chris N’Gimbi with power shots to the head and body.  Grigoryan bombarded N’Gimbi with high knees to the head and was able to open a cut deep enough that warranted a doctor’s stoppage in the 2nd round.  Grigoryan was awarded the WIN via TKO.

Sahak Parpayan’s fight was no less exciting and he and his opponenet, Murad Buziedi, fought toe to toe throughout all three rounds.  Parparyan went to the body hard and often and was awarded the fight on points.  4 to 1.

HyeFighter Vanes Martirosyan Ready For All Commers

Story From: The Ring Magazine
Vanes Martirosyan’s HBO debut was a rousing success. He controlled his 12-round bout with Joe Greene at New York’s Yankee Stadium, handily winning on all three cards. The future was bright for the Top Rank junior middleweight, with many lucrative fights waiting in the wings. That was in 2010.

Fast forward to 2012 and he has yet to fight a second time on a premium network – and the man known as the “Nightmare” is quite frustrated.

“I’ve been waiting for a big fight,” said Martiorysan. “I’ve been waiting for Canelo [Alvarez] for a while now.”

THE RING’s No. 3 rated junior middleweight is scheduled to fight Troy Lowry (28-11, 17 knockouts) on February 4, the off-TV undercard of the HBO card headlined by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Marco Antonio Rubio.

Martiroysan (31-0, 19 knockouts) of course would much rather be on the televised portion of the card fighting a fellow contender, rather than a 41-year-old journeyman.

“They’re just giving me this fight to stay busy, I don’t know what’s going,” said Martiroysan. “I’m just doing my job. I don’t pick my fights, I wish I could, but I don’t.”

The 25-year-old native of Armenia is perplexed by his inability to secure a meaningful fight.

“Maybe it’s my style, I don’t know,” said Martiroysan. “I have a new manager, Serge Martiroysan, who is also my uncle. After this fight, he promised me big things and 2012 is going to be my year. I’m going to go in there this fight and get a quick knockout and just look forward to the next one.”

The Glendale, Calif.-based fighter attempted to clarifiy the situation with Alfredo Angulo, wherein he was accused of ducking the Mexican brawler and simultaneously throwing away a chance to fight on HBO.

“With Angulo, they wanted me to go to Mexico, for a lot less money than they offered him,” said Martiroysan. “The only reason I turned down Angulo is because I was in the middle of trying to buy my contract out from Steve and I was getting a new manager. Now that I’m out of the contract with Steve I will fight Angulo in a heartbeat, anytime.”

The 2004 Olympian, who twice fought Andre Berto before making the team, advanced to within one fight of the medal round. He strongly believes his Olympic pedigree has greatly helped him in the paid ranks.

“It helps a lot because you get to see the world and you get to see different styles of boxing,” said Martiroysan. “The atmosphere helps you a lot in the pros.”

Martiroysan would love a third fight with Berto – this time without headgear and big gloves.

“I don’t think he’ll fight me, but if he wants to I would love that fight,” said Martiroysan of his former amateur rival. “He beat me close the first time, but the second time I beat him pretty bad and I hurt him also.”

Martiroysan is hoping to get two big fights in 2012.

“After this next fight, hopefully I get the winner of [James] Kirkland-[Carlos] Molina (on Mar. 24) and after that hopefully get Canelo,” said Martirosyan. “After that I want to fight all the top guys.

“I think Canelo is a good fighter, but it’s too soon for him to be champion, I think they’re doing a good job of protecting him. He’s getting better as the fights go on, but I don’t think he belongs up there.”

Martiroysan feels similarly about Kirkland, stating “Kirkland is good, he’s a good fighter, fights with his heart, but I think if he faces me it’s going to be the same thing that [Nobuhiro] Ishida did to him.”

The longtime denizen of Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club is confident that when he finally gets his big fight, whomever he faces will have his hands full.

“I think I’m a boxer-puncher, I can adjust to any style,” said Martiroysan, who is co-trained by Roach and Edmond Tarverdyan. “I’m very unorthodox, it’s really hard for [opponents] because I have the European background, also. I have the style to bang or box.

“I’m trying to come into my own and I can do whatever I want in there, I’m very relaxed now.”

HyeFighter Magakian In Action On The 28th

By: Alec Talian – HyeFighters Contributing Writer:

Former Ultimate fighter cast member, HyeFighter Sevak Magakian is fighting on January 28th against Alex Garcia at the California Fight Syndicate promotion’s event in Santa Monica at the Civic Auditorium.

Not too many people know about our HyeFighter’s opponent other then those who know him personally or train with him, but the word is that he is well rounded at striking and is good on the ground. By the same token Magakian is expert on the ground and very much improved in his striking as exhibited in his last fight, when Sevak TKO’d his opponent who was a 40 fight veteran. We can not predict what direction the fight will go but hearing this little information of Sevak’s opponent  we believe this fight will end via a rear naked choke or decision win by our HyeFighter.

For tickets, contact Sevak via his Facebook, or call 562-447-9152.  Tickets start at $45

HyeFighter TPF Champ Karakhanyan To Defend His Belt On March 9th

Featherweight champion HyeFighter Georgi Karakhanyan has an opponent for his next Tachi Palace Fights title bout.

Georgi Karakhanyan confirmed today withHyeFighters.com (www.HyeFighters.com) that he (17-3-1 MMA, 1-0 TPF) will take on 24-year-old Micah Miller (17-4 MMA, 2-0 TPF), who recently had a short stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 14.”

“TPF 12: Second Coming” takes place March 9 at Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.

The card is expected to stream online.

Karakhanyan recently claimed the vacant title with a first-round submission victory over Isaac DeJesus at TPF 11. The bout, which marked his Tachi debut, extended his win streak to three fights, all of which have come via submission. In fact, the California-based Armenian’s only losses in his past 15 fights came under the Bellator banner to notables Joe Warren and Patricio Freire in featherweight-tournament bouts.

The former pro soccer player now takes on, Miller who also enters the bout with a three-fight win streak (and six wins in his past seven fights). The lone defeat came in Japan to current UFC fighter Michihiro Omigawa. Miller, the younger brother of UFC vet Cole Miller, entered “TUF 14” as one of the show’s early favorites this past year, but Steven Siler upset the WEC veteran and American Top Team fighter an elimination-round bout.

After that, Miller picked up Tachi wins over Diego Saraiva and DeJesus.

This fight has all the makings of a war!!!!

HyeFighter Karakhanyan To Defend His Belt On March 9th – NOT OFFICIAL

Although it has been reported that HyeFighter Georgi Karakhanyan is scheduled to defend his title against Micah Miller, we have just spoken with Georgi and he has personally confirmed that as far as he is concerned, the fight is NOT official.  He said he had spoken with the TPF officials about it, however he has NOT SIGNED anything to fight on March 9th.

We are not saying that this fight will not happen rather, it is not yet official from Georgi Karakhanyan’s standpoint.

Here is the story circulating on the internet:

Tachi Palace Fights featherweight champion Georgi Karakhanyan will put his belt on the line on March 9 against former WEC fighter Micah Miller.

Tachi Palace Fights officials confirmed the bout on Monday.

Following his run in Bellator Fighting Championships, former pro soccer player Georgi Karakhanyan has found success under the Tachi Palce Fights banner.

Going 3-0 in his last three fights, Karakhanyan has managed to submit his last trio of opponents in the first round, while also capturing the Tachi Palace Fights featherweight championship title.

Attempting to take the title away from him will be former WEC and ‘Ultimate Fighter’ hopeful Micah Miller.

The American Top Team fighter has won his last three fights in a row, two of which took place in Tachi Palace Fights. Miller came up short in his bid to make the cast of the 14th season of the ‘Ultimate Fighter’, but is now looking to try to take Georgi’s belt.

Tachi Palace Fights 12 will take place on Friday, March 9 from the Tachi Palace Casino in California.

HyeFighter Papazian Very Impressive In UFC Debut

HyeFighter Jared “Jackhammer” Papazian made an unforgetable debut in the UFC tonight, in which his fight could arguable be the “Fight Of The Night”.  Jared went toe-to-toe with Easton, his opponent, and did not back down from anything.  Papazian showed his strength, determination and grit as he pressed forward and banged when he had to, moved around when he needed to and stayed within his game.  The big stage of the octagon did not have any adverse effects.

Although Papazian lost this match via Majority decision, he gained a lot of fans and the respect of the UFC 135ers.  I am sure this is not the last we will hear from Papazian in the UFC.  The Jackhammer entered the UFC with a BANG!!!!  And, I am sure the resonance of his bang will be getting louder as the year goes by.  Congratulation Jared Papazian on an amazing fight and a great game plan orchestrated by your coach Alberto Crane.

Here is the Play by play:

ROUND 1 – Both fighters open orthodox. The two clinch and trade hard shots in the middle. Easton pressing Papazian into the fence and both fighters landing shots. Papazian with a short elbow but the referee separates them. Easton stalking but not really throwing. Papazian switching stances and getting off first, but not landing anything significant. Spinning back kick from Easton lands a little with a left hook. Another hard leg kick from Easton. The two end the round clinching and exchanging strikes.

ROUND 2 – Right hook from Papazian lands and Easton goes back to stalking. Left hook lands hard from Easton. Papzian back to switching stances. Papazian landing in a short exchange, but the routine remains. Easton lands a monster outside leg kick. Papazian clinches with Easton and presses him into the fence. Referee Yamasaki separates them. Right hand from Papazian finds the mark, but Easton lands a short right hand of his own. Easton with a knee tap on top now. Easton passes to side, but Papazian manages to stand. Easton lands a left hook and reverses a takedown attempt from Papazian.

ROUND 3 – Fighters trading in the middle and Easton pressing Papazian into the fence. Now the two jockeying for position. Referee Yamasaki separates them. Papazian with a hard inside leg kick and stuffs an inside trip from Easton. Fighters now trading body shots and Easton lands a hard right hand. Dirty boxing from Papazian, eats an uppercut as Easton trying to fire back. Papazian now pressing Easton into the fence. Easton landing leg kicks and few right hands, but Papazian firing back. Papazian landing more and more now and changes a level, but can’t get the takedown.

Official results: Mike Easton defeats Jared Papazian by majority decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-29)

HyeFighter Papazian Makes Weight For His UFC Debut

By: Alec Talian – HyeFighters Contributing Writer:

Everything is looking up for HyeFighter Jared “The Jackhammer” Papazian.   Many are speculating if Papazian will win his debut fight in the UFC on FX tomorrow January 20th against Mike “The hulk” Easton.   Many of Papazian fans say yes, and those for Easton say no, and yet others believe the fight can go to either one of the fighters. Easton’s original Opponent, who was forced to drop out due to an injury, said Papazian has a chance to show the world his skills in the cage.

Easton, being that most of his fights are more stand up oriented, only has two submissions wins under his belt with a record of 11-1, doesn’t appear to be much of a problem for Jared. Papazian will be entering the UFC Octagon with a record of  14-6 with only one win coming via submission will bang with his opponents, and this fight against “The Hulk” should be no different. Easton has a slight size advantage over Papazian, but gives up height.  This has the makings of an EPIC battle.

Papazian is the fighter that will stand and fight with his opponents, and he is also well rounded in his ground game and wil look for the opportunity to take down his opponents and go for the finish.

I’m looking for Papazian to defend the takedowns and avoid the power of Easton. Easton has very good takedown defense, and in my opinion, Papazian will be able to do enough damage to Easton’s legs and pick his shots intelligently and patiently and win the fight.

Everything looks good now on paper, but ink and paper can only say so much the fight tomorrow will answer everyone’s questions.  And we at HyeFighters.com are confident of who will be victorious.  The guy with the RED hair!!!

Papazian Weighed in at 135.5 and Easton weighed in at an exact 135 pounds.

HyeFighter Darchinyan To Fight In Japan On April 6th

The Armenian three-division boxing world champion HyeFighter Vic Darchinyan has been given the chance to fight for another bantamweight crown, with an April 6 challenge to Japan’s WBC champion Shinsuke Yamanaka.

The fight is expected to be staged in Tokyo.

Southpaw Yamanaka, 29, (15-0-2, 11 knockouts) will be making the first defense of the title he won last November.

All of his professional fights have been in Japan, but fighting in that country holds no fears for Darchinyan.

“In Vic’s T-shirt sales, Japan ranks number two behind Armenia and Russia, so he’s got a lot of Japanese followers,” Darchinyan’s manager Elias Nassar said.

“He loves the style of Japanese fighters because they are warriors and they come to fight and that’s the way Vic thinks boxing should be.

“He (Yamanaka) is very aggressive, he won’t be intimidated and doesn’t take a backward step.”

Darchinyan’s professional record dropped to 37-4-1 (27 KOs) after his points loss last month to WBA bantamweight super champion Anselmo Moreno.

Nassar said Darchinyan received a lot of offers following the loss, but had a warning for all those people who considered his charge a trial horse.

“Vic has always been very good off the rebound, people start to doubt him and he becomes an underdog and he wants to prove everyone wrong and puts in a stunning performance,” Nassar said.

“They put one and one together and they see he is 36 years old, he’s at the end of his game and a lot of people suddenly think Vic is a stepping stone.

“You want to be careful what you wish for if you think Vic Darchinyan is a stepping stone.”

HyeFighter Abraham KO’s Farias

Former world middleweight champion HyeFighter Arthur Abraham defeated Argentinian Pablo Farias in five rounds tonight after a timid first three rounds in Offenburg, Germany.

The 31 year-old, who lost Andre Ward in May, is not known for his fast starts an tonight was no different  as he laboured through the early rounds, arguably losing the three opening rounds to ‘Pokemon’ at the Baden-Arena.

Abraham came back strong in the fourth though and looked more like his old self as he ploughed through Farias’ guard with some stinging shots, leaving Farias bewildered at times and realising he may be in too deep.

The Armenian Abraham then put together some hard combinations to put Farias down twice in the fifth, before a third knockdown led to referee Manuel Maritxalar saving the younger fighter from further punishment.

The former IBF title holder at 160lbs improved his record to 33-3 with this very much needed win.

HyeFighter Arthur Abraham’s Fight SOLD OUT In Germany

King Arthur Abraham´s hotly-anticipated ring return has electrified German boxing fans. While a crowd of 1,000 people attended Sunday´s open work-out at the Europapark Rust, all 4,000 tickets for Saturday´s fight against Pablo Farias (19-1, 11 KOs) have been sold. “I am very grateful for the support of the fans,” King Arthur (32-3, 26 KOs) said. “I will put on a great show. 2012 will be a big year for me. I want to be world champion again.”

HyeFighter King Arthur Abraham (32-3, 26 KOs) returns on January 14 when he takes on Pablo Farias (19-1, 11 KOs) in Offenburg, Germany. here is what Abraham had to say about his upcoming fight..

Q: Arthur, January is not a popular fight date for most boxers because it means that you have to train through the Christmas and the New Year festivities. What was it like for you?

AA: “I trained all the time. No matter whether it was Saturday, Sunday, Christmas or New Year´s Day – I did not miss a single training session. On the days when Ulli Wegner was not available, his assistant Georg Bramowski took care of me. I did not complain about the hard training. It´s part of an athlete’s life. It´s not that bad to skip the sweets and the good food during Christmas time.”

Q: Are you looking forward to your ring return?

AA: “Yes, very much so. That´s why it was ok for me to train so hard in the past weeks. I have not fought since May. It has really been a long break.”

Q: You have been target to a lot of criticism after your losses in the Super Six tournament. How have you dealt with it?

AA: “Well, if you lose, you get criticised. That´s fine with me and that is something you have to live with. But I am not thinking about it any more. I have put it behind me. I am focussing on the future now.”

Q: Nevertheless, have there been any lessons learned?

AA: “You cannot change the past. You just have to accept it and try to improve in the future. I would not say I boxed “poorly” or committed a lot of mistakes. I just was too passive in the fights. I have prepared well for the fight in Offenburg but that is not any different from the last bouts. However, I will try to be more active, try to punch more.”

Q: What can the fans expect from you on January 14?

AA: “They can look forward to seeing the old Arthur Abraham, the one who won the world title and made ten successful defences!”

Q: What are your goals for 2012?

AA: “I only have one goal. I want to be world champion again.”

HyeFighter Papazian Fighting In The UFC

The UFC’s debut on FX is two weeks away, and Mike Easton was looking for a new opponent. King of the Cage Bantamweight champion, HyeFighter Jared Papazian got the call from the UFC and said why not.

Mike Easton was all set to go against Ken Stone. However, that lasted all of about a day. Stone was pulled out of the fight due to injury and now a UFC newcomer, HyeFighter Jared Papazian, has stepped in to fill Stone’s shoes.

Papazian holds a 14-6 record in his mixed martial arts career. His last nine fights have seen him go a fantastic 8-1. Taking on Easton with a full camp is not an easy task, doing it on two weeks notice is going to be tough. However, being from some of the regional promotions he may be used to short notices, and not to mention that his Armenian blood is always ready to fight.

Easton comes into the matchup ranked as the #66 (MMA) #26 (UFC) Bantamweight, while Papazian comes is as the #49 ranked Bantamweight in MMA.
