HyeFighter Abraham vs Wilczewski On March 31st

When HyeFighter Arthur Abraham (33-3, 27 KOs) gets in the ring on March 31st, he will be facing a very tough opponent in Poland’s former EBU super middleweight champion Piotr Wilczewski (30-2, 10 KOs) in Cologne, Germany.

Both Abraham and Wilczewski are coming off statement wins, Abraham with a 5th round KO of Argentinian Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias, and Wilczewski soundly beating Serbian Geard Ajetovic but winning the bout via split decision which many thought was not as close of a fight as the scores indicated.

Wilczewski is a dangerous opponent and, by the same token, a great fight for Abraham.

HyeFighters & Ronda Rosey Getting Ready For Their Fights

Fresh off of his KO win the night before, Azat Hovhanessyan was at the Glendale Fighting Club the next morning supporting his fellow HyeFighters Artyom Hovhannisyan and Gapo Tolmajyan as they were getting ready for their fights.  As always, the gym was filled with students and professionals, along with women’s MMA phenom Ronda Rousey who got in some sparring as she is getting ready for her world championship fight on March 3rd.  Her coach, HyeFighter Edmond Tarverdyan, is winding down Ronda’s training camp and was very satisfied with how this training camp had progressed.  Both coach and fighter are very confident and it shows.

HyeFighter Azat Hovhannesyan Wins By KO

HyeFighter Azat Hovhannesyan of Glendale, CA (fighting out of the Glendale Fighting Club, with coach Edmond Tarverdyan) stopped William Fisher in the fourth and final round. After an even first round, Hovhannesyan repeatedly landed to the head of Fisher in the second and third rounds. Hovhannesyan (2-1, 2 KOs) stunned Fisher numerous times with right hands to the head, as Fisher tried to hold on. By the end of the third round, Fisher, from Moreno Valley, CA, had a large bruise underneath his right eye, due to the amount of punches he was receiving. In the fourth round, Hovhannesyan dropped Fisher with a straight counter right hand to the head. Fisher stood up, but was met with a barrage of punches, prompting referee Marcos Rosales to stop the bout at 2:43.

HyeFighter Mousasi Without Opponent For March 3rd

HyeFighter Gegard Mousasi is without an opponent for his scheduled fight on March 3rd at the Strikeforce Tate vs Rousey event.  Mike Kyle has once again pulled out due to an injury.

The status of this fight remains unknown as the promotion is scrambling to find a replacement, but dropping the fight all together has also been brought up as an option (which we think will be the case).  This fight against Mike Kyle was the beginning of the road back to the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight championship for Mousasi, and it has presented its first roadblock.  We had spoken with Gegard and he told us that he was ready for this fight and looking forward to a great showing; he said he has learned alot from his previous fights and was ready to perform.

We do not know what the outcome of this will be as Strikeforce has not announced a replacement nor have they addressed the status of this scheduled fight.  We will let you know as soon as we find out.

Shawn wanted to do something in memorial and organized the “Muay Thai Kickboxing Seminar In Memory Of Johnny Hovnanian”.  The event was very successful and more importantly, he was able to raise money to aid Johnny’s family.

HyeFighter Manny Gamburyan At UFC Undisputed 3 Autograph Signing

HyeFighter Manny Gamburyan was at the Burbank CA Best Buy store today signing autographs for the upcoming UFC Undisputed 3 video game, in which he is included as a fighter.  HUGE props goes out to Manny as he shared this moment with other HyeFighters Art Hovhannisyan, Gapo Tolmajyan and Edmond Tarverdyan.  The HyeFighter family does truly look out for one another and share their glory and spotlight.

The release of UFC Undisputed 3 is only a week away (February 14th) and video game/MMA/HyeFighter fans are all extremely anxious to get their hands on it. This year’s version of the game is said to have many improvements over UFC Undisputed 2010.

UFC 3 has implemented a new submission system that is easier for game play. It’s designed to make the submission mini-game easier to maneuver, as well making easier to see whose winning the struggle for control on the ground.

I, for one, can not wait to get our hands on this game so we can play as our HyeFighter Manvel “The Anvil” Gamburyan.

Congratulations Manny!!!!

Special thanks to Peter Sark for the ALL the pictures!!!

HyeFighter Arthur Abraham Back In The Ring On March 31st

HyeFighter Arthur Abraham will be back in the ring again on March 31 at the Sparkassen-Arena in Kiel, Germany. Although an opponent has not yet been named, “King Arthur” will be fine tuning his skills in a fight that is being refered to as a dress rehearsal for a world title fight in the latter part of this year. As Abraham has been daying all along, “My goal is to become world champion again,” and he has started 2012 in the right direction by earning a fifth round KO over Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias on January 14th. “That was a first step in the right direction. Only one or two fights, then I will again get hold of the world title.”

We have no doubt this plan will materialize soon enough.

HyeFighter Martirosyan Makes Short Work Of Lowry

In a clash for the WBC silver super welterweight title, unbeaten former Olympian HyeFighter Vanes Martirosyan (32-0, 20 KOs) took apart Troy Lowry (27-12, 15 KOs). Martirosyan dropped Lowry with a left hook to the body in the first round. Even though Lowry was able to answer the standing eight count, Martirosyan continued the attack throughout the remaining two minutes of round number one. Lowry developed a deep cut over the left brow of his eye in the second round due to continuous shots by the Nightmare. Martirosyan hurt Lowry in the third round as he connected with a straight right hand which sent him to his knees. Once again Lowry got up but was put into the ropes as Martirosyan fired away with combinations. Referee Laurence Cole put a halt to the bout at the 2:53 mark of the third round.

HyeFighter David Graf Still Undefeated

Rising cruiserweight prospect HyeFighter David Graf, 23, faced his stiffest challenge to date as he was taken the full 6 round distance of his fight against durable British boxer Paul  “Maniac” Morris (4-6-2, 2 KOs). Morris did everything to exploit the HyeFighter’s skills and his punching power. Graf tried to knock the Englishman out but despite some fair success in the fifth and in the sixth rounds he was not able to get the KO.  However, he did win the fight and improved to a record of  6-0, with 5 KOs. His previous 5 professional fights combined, had lasted less than the duration of this 6 round fight.  David Graf has now gone the distance and has emerged victorious.

HyeFighter Gago Drago Falls In Italy

Tonight was just one of those nights that we, as friends and fans of Gago Drago, would like to forget.  HyeFighter Gago Drago was knocked out in the 3rd round during his battle against Yury Bessmertny.  As always, Gago put up an amazing fight and some may argue that he was even ahead in this fight until the unthinkable happened.

We at HyeFighters.com were fortunate enough to speak with him after his match and he told us the following: “I remember nothing right now haha, just driving to the hotel, they said I was winning haha, I don’t believe it though, I have to look at the film and see. I Feel like shit  now”.  Needless to say, we would like to wish Gago a speedy recovery and commend him on his sense of humor and integrity, even in defeat.  The qualities of a true and great Armenian Warrior, a HyeFighter!!!

HyeFighter Martirosyan Ready For His Title Defense

Coach Edmond Tarverdyan with HyeFighter Vanes Martirosyan in Texas

HyeFighter Vanes “Nightmare” Martirosyan (31-0, 19KOs) is in Texas ready to face Troy “TNT” Lowry (28-11, 17KOs) on the undercard of Top Rank’s “Welcome to the Future” fight card. The main event will feature a doubleheader with a WBC middleweight title bout with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs) vs. Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5-1, 46KOs) and Nonito Donaire (27-1, 18KOs) vs. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-1-1, 18KOs) in the junior featherweight division. The main event will air on HBO World Championship Boxing at 9pm central.

This will be a title defense for Martirosyan, but Vanes has made it resoundingly clear he is ready, able and willing to step up to anyone in his division.  All that is needed is a fight to be set up and an opponent to accept his challenge.  So far, there have been no takers.

HyeFighters.com would like to wish Vanes all the best for this fight and we are confident victory will be his.
