HyeFighter and former IBF middleweight champion and Super Six contestant Arthur Abraham (34-3, 27 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Piotr Wilczewski (30-3, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Sparkassen Arena in Kiel, Germany. Abraham was more aggressive than in recent fights, but Wilczewski proved to be a very tough opponent, especially over the first half of the fight. Wilczewski was given a questionable point deduction from referee Manuel Maritxalar in round seven. Abraham, the bigger puncher, stepped on gas in the eighth and worked over Wilczewski. The former world champion had his biggest round in the eleventh when he had Wilczewski staggering around the ring. Scores were 118-109, 118-109, 119-108. Fightnews.com scored it 116-111.
According to promoter Kalle Sauerland, the win makes Abraham the highest-ranked challenger in the WBO ratings and he will face the winner of Stieglitz-Groves.
