HyeFighter Vanes Martirosyan’s Fight Against Davis Cancelled

There is always Good News / Bad News.  The Bad News is that we have just confirmed with Vanes Martirosyan that his scheduled fight against Ryan Davis was cancelled from Saturday night’s (July 7th) Donaire and Pavlik card because Davis was not cleared medically to fight by the California State Athletic Association.

The Good News is, the WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman has made a statement that the WBC has ordered free negotiations to commence for a final elimination bout between Erislandy Lara and Vanes Martyrosian to determine the mandatory challenger for the current WBC super welterweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. If there is no agreement between the parties, a purse bid will be held on July 27 at WBC Headquarters in Mexico City. “Both boxers have claimed in the media and in public their desire for a world title shot. Now the WBC has made an official decision. Now we’re waiting for the promoters to do the fight. It`s a great fight and we think it’s not a problem to do this fight,” said Sulaiman.

So, the Silver lining here is the fact that Vanes’ next fight could actually be the “Eliminator” for the WBC title fight.  We will keep you posted as developments unfold.
